Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island known as West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of communities. Many who've never known about it may think it is a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance along with her. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she wanted. She was encouraged to audition for a part in a school production. The student tried it out, and eventually got the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has appeared in 60 different productions including big screen productions as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian of the season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
